King Rail (Rallus elegans)

Order: COOTS, CRANES AND RAILS (GRUIFORMES ORDER)
Family: RAILS AND COOTS (RALLIDAE)

Included in ABA Region.


Saw this bird running across the trail from one side of the marsh to another, it did stop for few seconds which was enough to get good shots, . Best time to see them is early morning and possibly before sunset. They are secretive and tough to spot, Best way to photograph them is from a car to stay hidden, They do respond to calls, which is a way to spot their location.
