Hawaiian Hawk (Buteo solitarius)

Order: BIRDS OF PREY (ACCIPITRIFORMES ORDER)
Family: KITES, EAGLES AND HAWKS (ACCIPITRIDAE)

This Species is Endangered. Also it is Endemic to their region. Included in ABA Region.


Common in Big Island, on open dry forests, saw it perched on tree afternoon, . Seen noon till end of day, can be seen perched and flying as well. , Was able to approach it closely, being the top predator in Hawaii, it shows lot of confidence, Raptors usually do not respond to calls.
