Mississippi Kite (Ictinia mississippiensis)

Order: BIRDS OF PREY (ACCIPITRIFORMES ORDER)
Family: KITES, EAGLES AND HAWKS (ACCIPITRIDAE)

Included in ABA Region.


Usually common in rivers and lakes where its warm and humid enough to have insects carried higher by the wind, Surprisingly, saw it in urban neighborhood. Seen noon till end of day, can be seen perched and flying as well. , Once spotted, it is easy to photograph, they will try to keep their distance though, but can be approached occasionally, Raptors usually do not respond to calls.
